The war on germs has a new weapon

We appear to be living in an age of deadly pathogens that are more infectious than anything science has encountered in generations. When faced with such a pandemic, people will react in a variety of ways to deal with it. Most will agree with state guidelines to quarantine themselves and wash their hands often, use liquid sanitizers and wear masks covering the nose and mouth. Although some will rebel at such restrictive measures, if they are responsible citizens they will comply, if only to protect others. Meanwhile, in the scientific community there are industrious specialists in the field who are confronting the war on germs with innovative products and services. One of the soldiers in that war is Dr. Emily Hunt, a faculty member and researcher at West Texas A&M University.

Dr. Hunt joined the College of Engineering in 2005. She received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in 2001, 2002 and 2005, respectively. In 2009, Dr. Hunt developed an idea to protect soldiers and civilians from biological weapons of mass destruction such as anthrax. She was awarded funding from the National Science Foundation and the United States Department of Defense to pursue antimicrobial research. She performed the basic science necessary to transform the idea into a working prototype which was subsequently adopted by the US Department of Defense for use in military breathing masks. A research team was then formed to leverage this expertise in the field of antimicrobials to create simple, safe, and effective solutions that protect people and assets from the dangers of microbial contamination.

Their latest innovation is Copper Clean Antimicrobial Surface Patches, which is being supplied to businesses and institutions throughout the world to protect high-touch surfaces from harmful pathogens. Dr. Hunt, President of Copper Clean, granted a remote interview from her Canyon, Texas office to explain how the patches work. For more info about the company: www.copperclean.com

David Magee - Master of the Mind

After 25 years of traveling across our country and around the world, David Magee brings his new show, The Experience, to the Fort Worth Club.
The Experience is an interactive, intimate evening featuring the incredible skills of Entertainer and Mentalist David Magee. The show is set in the historic and prestigious Fort Worth Club in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. The Experience caters to only 54 guests, guaranteeing every guest a personal experience by giving them the opportunity to witness each effect up close.
In the early 1900’s, with the invention of the public address and amplification systems, entertainment changed forever. Small intimate gatherings gave way to large crowds and audiences in massive event facilities, tearing away at the intimacy of entertainment. “I have long believed the best way to experience the art form of sleight of hand and mentalism is in smaller more intimate audiences”, says Magee. The Experience has been a project David has wanted to bring to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for years and the timing seemed perfect after March 2020, when it became apparent that this intimate setting would be the most prudent way to entertain. This style of show has been a sell out in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, and is now available for you to witness, The Experience.

Tony Jeary interview at The Results Center in Lakeside DFW - Part 1

Tony Jeary interview at The Results Center in Lakeside DFW - part 2

Tony Jeary interview at The Results Center in Lakeside, DFW - Part 3

Recently, I was invited to do an interview of some North Texas leaders in order to highlight the historical achievements of those who helped build the communities we cherish today. The interview was conducted at The Results Center, a think tank in Flower Mound, staffed by a team of executive strategists with years of experience in building successful careers. Although I had driven past it several times since its construction about a year ago, this was my first time entering the attractive edifice at the intersection of Lakeside Pkwy. and Surrey Lane. It was then that I first met the owner, Tony Jeary. My first impression of him was that he’s a guy with amazing people skills.

That impression has been reinforced each time we get together. Comfortable in his own skin, Tony has a natural affability that makes everyone around him feel like they’ve just run into an old friend.  Moreover, the confidence he enthusiastically exudes makes it evident why so many people come to him for advice on building their businesses and their personal success. In the video interview (below), Tony talks about how he built his career and the many companies and individuals that have come to him for advice on building theirs. As part of the interview, Tony takes me on a tour of his amazing Lakeside complex.

The Results Center, 2591 Lakeside Parkway, Flower Mound, serves as the headquarters for Tony Jeary International, where Tony helps high-achieving, top-performing organizations and leaders accelerate their results at a level and pace many never thought possible. Tony Jeary is known as the “results guy” because he has earned a reputation as someone who can develop the untapped potential in all of us. Have you been working hard for years, but haven’t achieved the level of success you sought? Maybe it’s because you haven’t been working with a strategic plan to get you where you want to be. If you were leaving on a road trip, you’d know which roads to travel in order to get to your desired destination. Suppose you wanted to drive from Dallas to Houston. Well, with Houston as your goal, you’d map out the best way to get there. You wouldn’t leave your driveway and simply drive south; would you?

The same thing applies to other goals in your life. Mapping out your success not only makes achievement more attainable; it makes it occur in less time. To use the road map analogy again; you might, or might not, get to Houston eventually if you just kept driving south. However, if you planned your trip, taking the most direct route, you’d definitely be there a lot sooner. Tony Jeary International, with over 1000 clients, has a solid, proven track record of helping people get results faster. Tony Jeary says “Every problem is a thinking problem. Change your thinking; change your results.” He is the author of 40 books on how to reach extraordinary levels of success. Industry leaders and executive teams have discovered him as a secret weapon and they regularly fly into DFW to meet with him at his Results Center and they leave with clarity, focus and a plan to execute. After meeting with Tony in his unique, private, strategic acceleration studio, industry leaders will invariably say that Tony is a difference maker. More info at: www.resultscenter.co/.

Copper Clean demonstration at The Results Center in Lakeside, Flower Mound, Texas.

Recently, my wife Annette and I attended a demonstration of a product called, Copper Clean, at a think tank known as the Results Center in the Lakeside Community of Flower Mound, Texas.
Tony Jeary (fourth from right), owner of Results Center, hosted the meeting for the invited attendees. Scott Tarwater (far left), President of Newstream Hotels and Resorts, opened the meeting for a presentation by Dr. Emily Hunt (fifth from right), Dean of West Texas A & M Engineering Department. Copper Clean manufactures surface patches that are durable, antimicrobial copper stickers, which are applied to door handles, push plates, and other high-touch surfaces to kill surface-borne bacteria. www.copperclean.com
Given the current Covid-19 pandemic, with all its dreadful ramifications, everyone should be apprised of the need to ward off the deadly pathogens that are so readily transmitted from person to person, and from surface to surface. The meeting was more than informative, it was an education for those who were unaware of the powerful disease-fighting effects of copper. I feel confident that we'll be hearing a lot more about Copper Clean in the near future.

Local Diva creates High Art Foundation

Local Diva creates High Art Foundation
Notwithstanding the current shutdown of many public places in the country, most people continue to enjoy entertainment. Sadly, the most we can hope for during this pandemic is what we get from television or the Internet. Nevertheless, this malady will eventually pass and we’re sure to see a public eagerly anticipating the excitement of live, on stage, performances. Performing arts refers to forms of communication in which artists use their voices, bodies or inanimate objects to convey artistic expression. It’s different from visual arts, in which artists use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects. Performing arts include a range of disciplines which are performed in front of a live audience.
Theatre, music, dance, and other types of performances are present in all human cultures. The history of music and dance date back to pre-historic times. Performances can be held in purpose-built structures, such as theatres and opera houses, on open air stages at festivals, on stages in tents such as circuses and on the street.
Although professional entertainers generally perform before live audiences, the development of audio and video recording has allowed for private consumption of the performing arts. It’s a form of art which often aims to express one's emotions and feelings.  Performing arts may run the gamut from dance, music, opera, theater, magic, illusion, mime and poetic renderings on stage.
Opera is known as a specialized form of fine art, in which the artists perform a dramatic play in one or more acts, set to music for singers and instrumentalists. Called “Arias,” these performances are considered part of the genre of classical music. Referred to as performance art, or high art, opera is often viewed as entertainment for the most cultured music afficionados.
Flower Mound resident NaGuanda Nobles is a world class opera star, having performed as soprano soloist for various concerts, including the Soul of America tour throughout Europe with the Berlin Rundfunkchor, the Netherlands Radio Choir, and the NDR Choir Festival in Hamburg, receiving rave reviews for her “big, warming soprano with a lovely shimmering top that she uses with a ravishing effect.” Mrs. Nobles has made her mark on stage as a recitalist and an opera performer with the Pittsburgh Opera, Atlanta Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, the Dayton Opera and the Boston Symphony, to name a few. Recently, the local diva started a foundation dedicated to the high arts. I invited NaGuanda and her husband Kirk, who, in addition to his career with Kyocera, a tech company, is a jazz trumpeter, to do the video interview below. The following is from Mrs. Nobles’ webpage:   www.naguandanobles.com/the-highart-foundation-1
“I have always had the dream of creating a foundation that will award scholarships to talented and deserving high school students. The applicants must be musically gifted and have a desire to pursue a musical career. I am proud to share that the dream has now been realized with the formulation of The HighArt Foundation (HAF).
As a sophomore in high school, Dr. Andre Thomas saw something in me that I did not see in myself and offered me a full scholarship to Florida State University (FSU) to pursue a degree in Voice Performance. I accepted the scholarship and received my Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance. I remained at FSU, upon graduation, and completed my Masters of Music, also in Voice Performance. I would like to offer other young artists an opportunity to pursue their dreams, through the newly established HighArt Foundation. This Foundation will not only award scholarships, but its mission will also be to create opportunities to teach, inspire and help navigate students through their musical journey.” The HighArt Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Black conservatives are speaking out against the left wing America-haters in the Democrat Party that have been using blacks to win elections for generations, but, have not done anything to improve their natural instinct for achievement and success.

Left wing America-haters are attacking conservative blacks and calling them Uncle Toms.
A collection of intimate interviews with America's most provocative black conservative thinkers.

Uncle Tom explores their personal journeys, navigating the world as one of America’s most misunderstood political and cultural groups, The American Black Conservative.
The premier source for authentic Latino cuisine, Goya Foods is the largest, Hispanic-owned food company in the United States. In 1936, Don Prudencio Unanue and his wife Carolina, immigrants who first migrated to Puerto Rico from Spain, started Goya in a small storefront on Duane Street in Lower Manhattan.

North Texas pioneers talk about local history

When you look around at your town or city; do you ever think about those who came before you and the contributions they made to the place you call home? Many of the features in our orbit are taken for granted as though they just fell into place randomly. Au Contraire! The roads we travel on, the parks we enjoy with our children, the marvelous structures that adorn the landscape, the commercial areas that make shopping more convenient and a panoply of other amenities are the result of long term planning by visionaries.

If you’ve been in this area for at least a few decades you’ll remember when the roads were in need of expansion and there wasn’t a grocery market, a home services center, or a restaurant within miles. Although some residents would opine that it was better when North Texas was more of a rural destination, many others are understandably grateful for the positive growth that has made their lives more comfortable. Every town or city must grow or become stagnant and get left behind, as their neighboring municipalities prosper. It’s not the growth that makes residents fearful, it’s the quality of the growth.

If you’re fortunate enough to elect prudent leaders who have the talent, vision and executive ability to plan properly, you’ll look back with pride on your discerning choices. Whether it’s the development of DFW Airport, just minutes away; Gaylord Texan, an entertainment hub in Grapevine; Lakeside Community and the River Walk in Flower Mound; or an array of other amazing additions to the area, they all began with an idea and the leadership to carry it to completion.

To highlight some of the leaders who pioneered much of the spectacular landscape in our orbit, I arranged a video interview with David and Peter Stewart, whose family has a long and industrious history in North Texas; Scott Tarwater, President of Newstream Hotels and Resorts; Tony Jeary, owner of the Results Center in Lakeside; and William Tate, the longest serving Mayor of Grapevine. The 3-part interview took place at the Results Center in Lakeside, a think tank and business strategy consulting group known as Tony Jeary International. Tony Jeary is an author, entrepreneur and career builder for some of the world’s top achievers.

As a history buff, I was thrilled to do this interview and to be in the same room with these giants of industry. Listen closely to this educational journey into the past, coming from people who didn’t get it second hand; they lived it. I hope the residents of North Texas and beyond enjoy the history imparted on this video, even half as much as I did.

Mother, please let me live!

There’s an air of contentment surrounding me. I feel warm, well fed, and comfortable in a sea of fluid. The light thumping inside my form is the only perceptible sound in my tiny universe. I don’t know how I got here or what forces operated to create me, but I sense I’m experiencing the beginning of an existence. The silent nurturing from my host fills me with profound affection and gratitude, for she is the reason for my being. My senses are being carefully engineered and programmed by the genetic forebears of my host. While confined in this sensory deprivation chamber, I am aware of a higher stimulus level. I am in tune with the feelings and emotions of my host mother. When her mood changes from happy to sad, I feel intermittent waves of hostile fluid brushing up against my membrane-covered compartment.

Having no defense against this murky sea of discontent, I merely wait for it to pass and hope it doesn’t turn my mother against me. Instinctively, I realize that I’m a burden to her. I have swollen her body with my presence and forced her to endure many uncomfortable, sleepless nights. Sometimes, I can feel ripples in my atmosphere as my host wretches her nourishment in bursts. When she’s happy, my world is calm and secure, and my future is assured. Then comes the fears, the doubts, the uncertainties and I know my being is threatened.

At times, she’s not sure if she wants me; if she wants the responsibility of having me; if she wants to bring me into the world. These are the most difficult times for me because I have no power to influence her, no power to stop her. The natural forces around me are operating efficiently to escort me to a new dimension of reality. But in order to get there, I need her love and commitment. Although I can sense her affection, I also know of her ambivalence. She’s trying to decide if she should let me live or end my short existence with a medical procedure.

Cutting through the thin sac that houses me will stop the process of my birth and relegate me to the status of a human waste product. Every fiber of my tiny body tells me I am more than that. There must be a reason for each life to be created. What can I do to persuade my mother to spare me? How do I make her understand that I want to be born? It’s difficult to imagine that she would destroy me because I’m inconvenient for her right now. It isn’t my fault if I was created unintentionally. The fact is I have been created, so why not fulfill the term of my development?
After I’ve drawn my first breath of air, if you decide you don’t want me, give me to someone else who can help me grow. Whether you keep me or not, I will always be indebted to you for giving me life. We will always be connected on some level. Whether it’s physical or spiritual, you will have created a part of yourself that no one else can claim as theirs. Yes, my mother, you alone have control of my destiny. Only you can decide whether I will have my chance at life.

What I sense from you is fear and insecurity. You blame me for those emotions and you want to erase them by erasing me. But in your heart you know you will never be able to forget the bond we’ve forged since you felt my presence growing within you. Please be there for me now, and I promise to be there for you until the end of my days. I will make something of my life if only to prove that I deserved to be born and that you made the right decision in staying the course.

Please, my mother, don’t remove me like you would excise a wart or a tumor. I am so much more than an unsightly growth on the hide of an animal. Like you, I am the creation of a higher power. I have a will to live and a love to give. Grant me the right to be born, and I will never give you cause to regret your decision. But if you should decide to rid yourself of me, I’ll still love you for the brief span of time you allowed. Yet, in some other existence, I’ll always wonder, as will you, what I could have achieved if given a chance at life.
