Each day there is something that catches my attention in the news, giving me the desire to comment on it. However, I get wrapped up in things that I need to do that require more attention, and then I forget what I was so wrapped up about. In the case of the Clancy trial, for example, something that has been in our faces for a couple of months, (one of the reasons I am against televising the courtroom proceedings), I felt the need to speak about it. If anything, the trial cemented the fact that the woman is clearly guilty of killing her three babies. There was no question about that. Her planning for all of this is what is questionable. However, the decision that the defense attorney wanted everyone to make was that she was in a psychotic state when she did these horrendous acts. I got to the point that I refrained from watching the trial because I knew in my heart that the woman was gaining sympathy from every misguided woman outside the courtroom with their signs asking for her to be released, and that it would end up in being declared as a mistrial.
That’s when I realized that our society had become so
insensitive to killing – think Luigi Mangioni and the Charlie Kirk
assassination – that it was all considered business as usual. There have been
many such killings in the past, where the mothers decided they wanted to be
free of their responsibility of caring for the children they gave birth to.
There are some cases in which fathers were equally guilty for the murder of
their children.
So, what has become of our society that this is now the
norm?
Clearly there are many reasons that can be brought up
as to why we’ve gone over the cliff with murders. The lack of God in
so many households is a starter, and in many cases the single parent home is
one of the reasons that comes to mind. In other cases, having
children out of wedlock, which always ends up in a single parent situation,
seems to be almost normal in many parts of our culture. Then there
is the top one, in which the educational system is so broken that it glosses
over real teaching and pushes out students that can’t even read or write so
that they create havoc because they can’t get a decent job; and I won’t even
get into some cultures where honor killings are the norm.
All of this is not to say that post-partum does not
exist because for many it does. What is curious, in this case, is
that this woman, who was supposedly a nurse, shopped to so many physicians for
a variety of drugs. Why each physician didn’t know about the prior
physician she dealt with, and what prescriptions were administered is a mystery
to me and might bring up an investigation of those docs in the
future. Unless she went to different pharmacies to get her
prescriptions, the one that she dealt with most of the time would have had a
record of the many drugs she was taking and had to communicate that info to the
prescribing doc. We are a society of drugs for every perceived ailment that it
gives a person a headache thinking about it.
My concerns, and I believe this may have been mentioned
by others in the media, is that this excuse of psychotic events will be used
over and over again to release women that are truly evil. I can agree that
women that do what this woman did are definitely mentally unstable, but there’s
a line I draw when it comes to excusing the behavior as simply mentally
unstable as a one-time occurrence, and removing the murder of the lives of innocent
babies when they knew what they were doing was wrong. And let’s face
it, if this were a man that did these horrible acts claiming that he heard a
voice telling him to do what he did, the trial would have been over in two
days. With all the liberal women that were outside the courtroom
calling for the release of this mentally unstable woman, I would have loved to
see a female reporter that had children ask them why they felt the way they
did.
Too bad those women outside the courtroom didn't hear a
voice telling them to stop making excuses for something so horrible and get out of the way!
